Exelon Working Toward a Clean Energy Future

Exelon Corporation is committed to a clean energy future, and it has an important role to play. As one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, Exelon is working to provide low-emission, secure sources of energy at an affordable cost to the communities and customers it serves and the markets where it operates.

The company has also made progress in reducing its own greenhouse gas emissions through Exelon 2020, its plan to effectively eliminate the equivalent of its entire 2001 carbon footprint by 2020. Exelon is now halfway to the goal, equal to taking about 1.5 million cars off the road every year.

Exelon’s proposed merger with Baltimore-based Constellation Energy will further enhance this environmental commitment. Upon closing, the transaction will create the leading clean and competitive energy company in the utility industry. Ultimately, the combined company will boast 87 percent clean electricity generation from environmentally friendly sources including nuclear, hydroelectric, wind, solar, and natural gas. Exelon looks forward to becoming part of Baltimore’s business and environmental communities.
