Business Insiders Celebrate the Full Opening of Japan's Borders for Travel

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida says Japan will ease travel restrictions and encourage international travel for the first time in more than two years beginning next month.

WASHINGTON, DC, September 28, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "Welcome to Japan." Finally, after two and a half years, business and other individual travelers will hear those words from border entry officers at international airports in Japan.

Earlier this month the Japan Times reported a shift in COVID-19 protocols toward a "living with COVID-19" phase which the Kishida administrations hopes will "mitigate the spread of infections but also boost the economy." With additional reports of daily new COVID-19 cases trending downward nationally for several weeks in a row, the nation and travelers worldwide held their collective breath for news that Japan's borders would again be open to all visitors.

That news came last Friday, September 23, 2022, when the Japan Times reported "Japan will allow visa-free, independent tourism and abolish its daily arrival cap as of Oct. 11." The report noted that Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced the re-opening during his September 22nd visit to New York for the U.N. General Assembly.

"This is great news," said John Feist, an author and frequent visitor to Japan prior to border closures in 2020. "The most convenient mode of entry for business travelers will now be restored. And, with the yen hovering around 145, the dollar has not been as strong in Japan for 25 years – a fact travelers will surely appreciate."

"If you are planning a trip to Japan now that the borders are open," Feist adds, "Take a look at my book, POCKET JAPAN: A Concise Guidebook for Business Travelers to Japan, from Winter Wheat Press. Readers will gain insights into the business and cultural foundations for forming successful relationships with the people they will be in contact with."

Available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble as well as other major retailers, POCKET JAPAN (ISBN 978-1735749761) retails for just $10.99. Travelers who like to travel light will appreciate that this slim paperback is about the size of a passport.

John W. Feist is the author of a series of political thrillers, Night Rain, Tokyo (2018), Blind Trust (2019), and Doubt and Debt (2021), a literary novel, The Color of Rain (2021) and a business travel book, Pocket Japan (2021), all from Winter Wheat Press.
