DHA Housing Solutions for North Texas Appoints Dr. Maggie Deichert to Vice President of Policy Development & Research

DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas announces that Dr. Maggie Deichert, DHA director of Policy Development & Research (PD&R) has advanced to the role of vice president of PD&R for the agency.

As vice president, Dr. Deichert leads DHA’s research initiatives surrounding affordable housing and self-sufficiency and the development and implementation of innovative policies. These policies work to remove barriers to self-sufficiency and foster upward mobility for communities chronically under-resourced across North Texas.

Dr. Deichert is responsible for the technological design and implementation of many of PD&R’s programs. She also leverages a customer relations management (CRM) platform to create automation-driven programs for quick, transparent, and responsive government operations.

Since joining DHA in 2019 as director of PD&R, Dr. Deichert has been involved in the development of many successful programs aimed at increasing access to housing for North Texans. In 2019, Dr. Deichert helped launch Children First North Texas (CFNTX). The program is designed to combat segregation and focuses on the provision of mobility counseling and support services for voucher families with children living in racially or ethnically concentrated areas of poverty.

In 2021, DHA was tasked to disburse $24 million in COVID-19 rental assistance. To distribute funds quickly and equitably, Dr. Deichert and the PD&R team developed a unique automation-driven system based around an innovative equity-focused model, covered by the Wall Street Journal, to successfully provide funds to Dallas residents. A total of 4,056 evictions were prevented for North Texas households through the CARES Act Relief initiatives.

After graduating from the Hofstra University Honors College with a degree in political science and economics, Dr. Deichert attended the Pennsylvania State University School of International Affairs and received an M.I.A. in international affairs. Dr. Deichert then attended Vanderbilt University where she obtained both an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Politics, Political Behavior, and Flaunt Magazine.

“Dr. Deichert’s expertise and support with programs such as CFNTX and the Emergency Rental Assistance program has been instrumental in advancing DHA’s mission of increasing access to affordable housing and supportive resources across North Texas,” says DHA president and chief executive officer Troy Broussard. “We look forward to her continued support in creating initiatives that allow our communities to thrive as she advances to vice president of PD&R.”
