Community Leader Almas Muscatwalla Appointed by Mayor Eric Johnson to the Board of Commissioners for DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas

Muscatwalla Joins DHA’s Five-member Board Responsible for Setting Policy and Fiscal Responsibility

DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas is pleased to announce that Almas Muscatwalla, a community leader in the DFW Region has been appointed by City of Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson to its board of commissioners, effective October 19, 2022.

Muscatwalla is a community leader in the city of Dallas and the North Texas region. She co-founded Faith Forward Dallas in 2015 to unite faith leaders from across religions to stand together for social justice issues, including migrant and refugee issues, homelessness, gun violence and racial equity. She has also served on the board of directors for the Thanks-Giving Foundation and has helped lead outreach across educational, cultural and arts sectors of the community, including the Islamic Art Revival Series, Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation, United Nations Association Dallas Chapter, DFW Muslim Jewish Advisory Council and Compassionate DFW.

“DHA welcomes Almas Muscatwalla to our increasingly diverse and engaged board of commissioners,” said Troy Broussard, president and chief executive officer of DHA. “We appreciate the mayor’s intentional focus on adding community leaders to our board who are invested in improving the affordable housing landscape across the seven counties DHA serves,” he concluded.

Muscatwalla holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Science degree in childhood development from Bombay University. She is a graduate of Plano Leadership, as well as Leadership Arts Institute (LAI). Currently, she is continuing her education through the Graduate Certificate Program at Southern Methodist University.

DHA is governed by a board of commissioners that is appointed by the Mayor of the City of Dallas. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for setting policy. Together, the Board of Commissioners and DHA’s executive leadership team set the mission, vision and strategy for the agency.
