Boys & Girls Clubs of America Names Bill Rogers, Chairman & CEO of Truist, New Board of Governors Chair-Elect

Rogers, a long-time supporter, will take the leadership role in January 2025, succeeding current board chair, Chris Abele

Boys & Girls Clubs of America is pleased to announce that its board of governors has voted to name long-time board member and supporter, William H. “Bill” Rogers Jr., as the nonprofit’s incoming board chair. Rogers, chairman and chief executive officer of Truist Financial Corporation, will take on the leadership role’s two-year term in January 2025, following the tenure of businessman and former Milwaukee County Executive, Chris Abele.

Joining Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Board of Governors in 2017, Rogers has served as its Strategic Planning Committee chair since that time and has taken active roles on the board’s audit and executive committees. Prior to this, he served on the Board of Directors for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta for more than 20 years. There, his roles included two terms as board chair, chair of the Trustee Board of Directors, and co-chair of the organization’s Capital Campaign, which exceeded its fundraising goal of $26 million under his leadership.

“For more than two decades, Bill has demonstrated unwavering dedication and tremendous support for the Boys & Girls Clubs mission,” said Jim Clark, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “His leadership and insight have been instrumental in advancing our goals, particularly in promoting strong financial stewardship during his years on our board’s committees, and supporting our new strategic direction aimed at empowering our staff and youth across the nation. As Bill steps into the role of board chair next year, we welcome his vision and the continued partnership with our board as we aim to make an even greater impact for young people.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Board of Governors provides strategic leadership for the organization, guiding the work of over 5,400 Club locations and impacting more than 3 million kids and teens annually. As one of the nation’s largest youth-serving organizations, Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides safe, supportive environments and life-enhancing programs for all kids and teens.

“As longtime supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs, my wife Ashley and I are staunch believers in the transformative power of its purposeful programs and the positive impact they have on young lives,” Rogers remarked. “I am deeply honored to assume the role of board chair in 2025, and I am committed to furthering the organization’s mission of empowering young people to reach their full potential. Together with the rest of our dedicated board, as well as the exceptional staff in Clubs and the National office, I am confident we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of millions of youth.”
