Progressive AG Innovation is proving to be a force to be reckoned with as it stepped up efforts to offer crimper rollers for cover cropping in the United States. Its new products seek to help farmer protect their soil and manage their crops.
The US-based firm has been a leading manufacturer of cover crop roller crimper agricultural equipment for US farms nationwide. With these game-changing products, farmers can plant green and flatten cover crops to create a weed-suppressing matte.
When choosing from among Progressive Ag Innovation crimper rollers, Justin Petry said farmers need to determine which one is right for their needs. The factors they have to consider include size, power requirements, towing method, and cost.
Progressive AG Innovation has designed its roller crimpers to be flexible, durable, easily maintained, and effective. They also come with a chevron pattern for maximum cover crop destruction and can be filled with water to increase weight. All parts used are 100 percent made in the USA.
The 6-1S Roller Crimper is the smallest of the crimper rollers. It is an excellent choice for those who need a small roller crimper for small tractor towing. They can get away with only 25 horsepower and a CAT I 3 point hitch. On the other hand, they can opt to step up to a 4-row machine that brings 6 feet to nearly 11 feet of cover crop destruction. It's still a single-section roller crimper for small tractor towing and will work with either a CAT I or II 3 point hitch. The power requirement is a little higher at 35 horsepower.
Progressive AG Innovation also features the 15-1S Roller Crimper, the biggest of its single-section crimper rollers, the 21-3S Roller Crimper, where farmers get two flex points for better handling of undulating terrain, and the 31-3S Roller Crimper, which is nearly identical to the 21-3S. Still, the extra weight and width will require at least 130 horsepower.
Meanwhile, with the 42-5S, farmers are able to get the same 41-foot cover crop coverage as the 41-5S but with four flex points instead of two for even better handling of undulating earth. This crimper is a trailered unit with a floating hitch, and farmers would need three remotes to fold, lift and hitch the roller-crimper.
According to founders Austin and Justin Petry, Progressive AG Innovation's bearing kits and parallel arm kits would not only repair and replace worn-out parts but would also be better than OEM. They're easy to install, and putting them on the equipment takes relatively little time.
"The team behind Progressive AG Innovation designed them to work with most major brands, and you can expect a long life and easier operation," explains Justin.
