CSR Slates Nov. 1, 2011 for 5th Annual Locations & Beyond Summit

CSR plc (LSE:CSR), a leading provider of location platforms, today announced that its 5th annual Locations & Beyond Summit will be held on November 1, 2011, at the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco, California. This invitation-only event will bring together location and connectivity ecosystem leaders, innovators and developers to help set the agenda for the future of location-enhanced services and technologies.

This year, discussions will focus on the intelligent integration of location technology and functionality onto multiple platforms and products, and the impact this integration will have on both the location ecosystem and on end consumers.

“Our role as industry leaders is to integrate location across devices to deliver a convenient, seamless experience so that users don’t have to concern themselves with how it’s being delivered,” said Kanwar Chadha, chief marketing officer for CSR and founder of SiRF. “In the emerging world of cloud-connected, location-aware devices, the impact of adding localized context to content can be extremely positive on consumers. With these advantages come challenges in privacy and security, however. As an industry, these are issues we need to explore and resolve to deliver the best possible experience with minimal adverse impact on the consumer.”

Fast Pitch Applications Now Being Accepted

One of the most popular elements of previous Summits has been the Fast-Pitch presentations in which nominated companies showcase their new, innovative products and services – often before anyone else has seen them – in 5-minute pitches. Attendees will get to vote for their favorite Fast-Pitch presentations; winners receive prizes and recognition at the cocktail reception following the Summit. In addition, this year a panel of venture capital companies will select their favorite pick. CSR encourages developers with innovative, location-aware applications to submit an application before close of business on September 25, 2011. There is no fee to enter; information and application instructions are available at http://www.locationsandbeyond.net/fastpitch.php.

The Summit Experience

With an unrivaled reputation for attracting industry leaders and innovators, the Locations & Beyond Summit has gained substantial momentum since its start in 2007 as a catalyst for generating ideas and solutions for the future of the location industry. The Summit offers attendees the ability to connect with location ecosystem partners to drive new applications and services for this exciting, rapidly evolving market. Attendance is by invitation only in order to ensure an intimate setting and to encourage dialogue among all participants; people wishing to attend can apply for an invitation and receive more information at http://www.locationsandbeyond.net/index.php.

Previous years’ speakers have included Rob Carter, executive vice president of FedEx information services; Anand Chandrasekher, senior vice president of Intel’s ultra mobility group; Michael Jones, chief technology officer of Google Earth; Barry West, president of the Xohm Business Unit of Sprint/Nextel; Biren Patel, director of product development and integration at Verizon Wireless; Christoff Hellmis, director of navigation and routing solutions at Nokia; Maasaki Maeda, president and chief executive officer of NTT DoCoMo USA; and Christy Wyatt, vice president of software experience and ecosystem at Motorola.
