Sharp Provides McAfee Mobile Security Software for its Next Generation of Education Tablets

McAfee Co., Ltd, the Japanese subsidiary of McAfee, today announced that it is to offer McAfee® Mobile Security software pre-installed on Sharp Corporation’s Android-based tablet devices. The tablets will target the education sector and will start shipping this month. Sharp users will have access to McAfee Mobile Security free of charge for 30 days, and can then upgrade to a one-year subscription for 2,980 yen (including tax).

McAfee Mobile Security software is a powerful app that protects mobile devices from various security threats. It guards against viruses, malicious applications and blocks risky sites based on McAfee SiteAdvisor™ technology. In addition, it enables the user to back up and restore their data, and to remotely lock and wipe the device in the event of loss or theft.

Sharp’s learning device is equipped with a non-glare liquid crystal screen that provides a clear display of characters and figures, an easy-to-hold pen that provides handwriting input, as well as a learning support tool that allows for digital materials and educational movies. It also includes an interactive classroom, which when employed with Sharp’s touch screen “BIG PAD”, encourages cooperative learning. McAfee is a leader in the mobile security market and protects mobile devices worldwide with its extensive lineup of services, ranging from consumer to enterprise solutions. McAfee mobile security software applications for Android have been downloaded more than three million times last year in Japan alone.
