McAfee Hosts First Annual Charity Golf Tournament

McAfee, the world's largest dedicated security technology company, today announced that its first annual McAfee Charity Golf Tournament generated over $150,000 for The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center and The American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Held on April 9, 2012, the full-day event included a round of golf at the CordeValle Golf Resort in San Martin, CA and a silent auction.

“McAfee is committed to protecting the online security and safety of families, corporations and governments every day. We’re proud to extend this commitment to support our philanthropic efforts by launching the first annual charity golf tournament to support The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center and The American Cancer Society Relay For Life," said Todd Gebhart, co-president at McAfee. “These causes are especially dear to McAfee since many of our associates have been affected either personally, or through a close friend or family member, by these terrible diseases.”

“We at The Parkinson’s Institute were honored to be selected as a beneficiary by McAfee for their inaugural Charity Golf Tournament,” said J. William Langston, M.D., chief executive officer at The Parkinson’s Institute. “A great company choosing a great cause to do genuine good in our community is a win-win in the best sense of the term. We thank everyone at McAfee for their support.”

“Through this generous donation, McAfee is making a real difference in the fight against cancer. Like so many other businesses, McAfee, has felt the agonizing effects of cancer -- the loss of colleagues, employees and customers to the disease,” said Allison Langston, Relay For Life Manager. “We are ever so grateful and sincerely thankful to Todd Gebhart, Mike DeCesare, Steve Petracca and the entire McAfee team. Your passion and enormous compassion over these past few months are cause for celebration and the reason lives are being saved. Your support enables the American Cancer Society to fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer, in every community through research, education, advocacy and service.”

“Thanks to the generous support of our partners and employees, we raised over $150,000 for two incredible foundations,” said Gebhart. “I want to thank the more than one hundred partners and employees who gave so generously to help us assist these lifesaving efforts.”

“As a McAfee partner, we are proud to support and be part of their annual charity golf tournament,” said Chris Ball, senior vice president and general manager at SAP North America. “It was a great opportunity to bring together Silicon Valley companies to support a common cause – fighting Parkinson’s and cancer. These are two diseases that affect every community and we know the money raised will make a difference.”

"Jabil believes in giving back to the communities we work in and we are always looking for ways to contribute,” said Jim Luginbill, vice president of Global Business Units at Jabil. “Being able to partner with a company like McAfee to support The American Cancer Society and The Parkinson's Institute is perfect for us. McAfee and these organizations are class acts and we appreciate the opportunity to work with them."
