Data from Ned Davis Research shows that, over the past 36 years, dividend-paying stocks have outperformed the rest of the S&P 500 Index by 2.5% annually. And dividend stocks outpaced all non-dividend paying stocks by nearly 8% annually during this period.

Currently, 84% of stocks in the broad-based S&P 500 Index pay dividends. All 30 components in the Dow Jones Industrial Average do too, as well as just over half of Nasdaq stocks.

And companies continue to sweeten payouts. More than 70 companies raised their dividends last week, up from 67 hikes the prior week.

Following are 30 of the most notable new dividend boosts for the week ending Jan. 31.

30 Dividend-Paying Stocks That Just Hiked Their Payouts

Access Midstream Partners LP (NYSE: ACMP) raised its dividend 3.7% to $0.55 a share for a 4% yield.

AO Smith Corp. (NYSE: AOS) increased its dividend 25% to $0.15 a share, up from $0.12, for a fresh 1.47% yield.

Avalon Bay Communities Inc. (NYSE: AVB) raised its dividend 8.4% to $1.16 a share for a 3.76% yield.

Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX) boosted its dividend 152% to $0.58 a share, up from $0.23. Shares yield 4.1%.

Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA) hiked its dividend 15% to $0.22 a share for a new yield of 1.65%. The No. 1 U.S. cable operator resumed dividends in February 2008 at $0.062 a share after a five-year pause.

Dow Chemical Corp. (NYSE: DOW) increased its dividend a nickel to $0.37 a share. The stock yields 3.25%. The 15.6% increase is the Midland, Mich.-company's third since paring its payout 64% in early 2009.

Dupont Fabros Tech. Inc. (NYSE: DFT) raised its dividend by 40%, or $0.10, to $0.35 a share for a 5.4% yield.

Emerge Energy Services LP (Nasdaq: EMES) upped its dividend 16% to $1.00 a share for a 8.61% yield.

Energy Transfer Partners LP (NYSE: ETP) improved its dividend by 2 cents to $0.92 a share. Its new yield is 6.63%.

Fidelity National Info Services (NYSE: FIS) fattened its dividend 9% to $0.22 a share for a near 2% yield.

Fox Chase Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: FXCB) increased dividend to $0.10 a share, a 25% increase. The company also announced a special dividend of $0.16 a share payable this month. Shares yield 2.34%.

Hanesbrands Inc. (NYSE: HBI) hiked its dividend 50% to $0.30 a share for a yield of 1.69%. It's the company's first increase since initiating payouts in April 2013.

HCP Inc. (NYSE: HCP) boosted its dividend 3.8% to $0.53 a share. The stock carries a 5.36% yield.

JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. (Nasdaq: JBHT) juiced its dividend 33% to $0.20 a share for 1.07% yield.

Kansas City Southern (NYSE: KSU) raised its dividend 30% to $0.28 a share. The stock yields 1.06%.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) boosted its dividend 43% to $0.50 a share for a 2.61% yield.

Lazard Ltd. (NYSE: LAZ) upped its dividend to $0.30 a share. The 20% increase gives shares a 2.81% yield.

Magellan Midstream Partners LP (NYSE: MMP) increased its dividend 4.9% to $0.58 a share for a 3.52% yield.

McGraw Hill Financial Inc. (NYSE: MHFI) fattened its payout 7% to $0.30 a share, for a new yield of 1.58%. The company has been paying uninterrupted dividends since 1937 and is one of fewer than 25 companies in the S&P 500 to boost payouts annually over the past 41 years.

National Health Investors Inc. (NYSE: NHI) hiked its dividend higher by 4 cents to $0.77 a share for a yield just shy of 5%.

PartnerRe Ltd. (NYSE: PRE) boosted its dividend 4 cents to $0.67 a share. The new yield is 2.73%.

Penske Automotive Group Inc. (NYSE: PAG) hiked its dividend a penny to $0.18 a share. Shares yield 1.68%.

Praxair Inc. (NYSE: PX) upped its payout a nickel to $0.65 a share for a yield of 2.08%.

Quest Diagnostics Inc. (NYSE: DGX) boosted its dividend 10% to $0.33 a share. The new yield is 2.5%.

Rollins Inc. (NYSE: ROL) raised its payout 16% to $0.10 a share for a fresh 1.46% yield.

Seadrill Partners LLC (NYSE: SDLP) sweetened its payout 4% to $0.44 a share. The stock yields 5.54%.

Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) hiked its dividend by a dime, up to $0.75 a share. The company began paying dividends in 2009 at $0.40 a share after being spun off from Time Warner. The new yield is 2.23%.

Tupperware Brands Corp. (NYSE: TUP) raised its dividend by 6 cents to $0.68 a share, good for a 3.16% yield. The Orlando, Fla.-based company has been boosting dividends since 2009 and has been paying them continuously since listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 1996.

WellPoint Inc. (NYSE: WLP) boosted its dividend 16.7% to $0.43 a share for a 2.03% yield.

Williams Partners LP (NYSE: WPZ) upped its dividend 1.7% to $0.89 a share. The stock yields 7.13%.
