Automakers and suppliers support NAFTA

The markets extended its gains during the midday with the Dow rocketing 193 points to 23,467. Nasdaq climbed 21 points to 6,607.


American auto manufacturers, parts suppliers and dealers have formed a new coalition called Driving American Jobs to protect jobs in the auto industry. The group will argue that the United States needs to stay in the North American Free Trade Agreement because the auto industry has thrived under the agreement. One million more cars were produced in the U.S. in 2016 than in 1993, the year before NAFTA took effect.


Chipotle Mexican Grill will once again hold their annual Halloween Boorito celebration on Halloween between 3pm to closing time at all of their locations. Lowe's will begin selling Craftsman tools in late 2018. Sears was forced to sell the iconic tool brand that it created 90 years ago to Stanley Black & Decker earlier this year in order to raise capital. While smaller hardware store chains such as Ace Hardware have sold Craftsman tools, this will be the first time that another major retailer will offer the Craftsman brand.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 4 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly 3 to 2 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 rose 5 points to 2,570. Bitcoin plunged $194 to $5,700.
