DC has a Funny Bone, Say Local Comedy Artists Behind The Comedy Festival

Washington, DC - December 15, 2017 - Washington DC’s very own comedy festival is bringing out the best of the regional talent. DC Comedians, founded by Eddie Liles (Broken Diamond Comedy), Rob Gordon (Yuung Funny), and Ivan Martin (Art of Comedy) are on a mission to bring attention to the local comedy community in DC. The group is promoting upcoming artists with house nights of comedy, sketch comedy shows and stand up.

The DC region has unfortunately lacked an awareness of where to find their fill for a good night of satire, fun and relaxation. Television is not the only place to find funny people, and the DC Comedy Festival specializes in promoting young talent living down the street.

“DC is one of the funniest cities the world. Every few years a local name shoots up in the popularity charts. In the past, the DC Comedy Scene has promoted names that went on to become big - Dave Chappelle, Donnell Rawlings, Patton Oswalt, Whitney Cummings, and Wanda Sykes. The April festival brings out the best of the DC comedy circuit and people get a chance to see the big stars of tomorrow in action,” says Eddie Liles of Broken Diamond Comedy.

The DC Comedy Festival removes one of the biggest question people in the DC area contemplate: where do I find good comedy? The DC Comedy Festival showcases areas and avenues that host comedy shows, and literally goes block by block and venue by venue to locate all the funny places of the city. The DC Comedy Festival is promoted and run by local comedians who know the local circuits inside and out.

Eddie Liles is from Broken Diamond Comedy, which organizes comedy shows and beer dinners across the DMV region. Rob Gordon of Yuung Funny covers the entire US and produces and acts in online videos. Ivan Martin of Art of Comedy produces comedy shows in DC and Baltimore, and is also the founder of the Baltimore Comedy Festival.

The DC Comedy Festival welcomes both amateurs and professionals to join its network and find exciting local opportunities to present their acts at multiple venues in DC, including bars, theaters, community centers and even apartment buildings.

DC Comedians want to reveal to the world that DC has a funny bone and is not lacking in talent. It aims to bring comedy groups together and showcase comedy shows that happen weekly, bi-weekly and monthly. All festival shows are held between April 10th and April 15th. The Festival will also pay tribute to entire streets of venues that show their commitment to promoting the art of comedy in the DMV.
