Markets surge as Treasury yields ease

The markets surged to close sharply higher with the Dow rocketing 347 points to 25,309 as Treasury yields eased. Nasdaq jumped 127 points to 7337.


On the upside


Financial Engines (Nasdaq: FNGN) reported better than expected earnings for the fourth quarter.


Momo (Nasdaq: MOMO) will acquire Tantan in a cash and stock deal .


New Senior Investment Group (NYSE: SNR) swung to a profit for the fourth quarter.

On the downside


KBR (NYSE: KBR) reported a smaller than expected profit for the fourth quarter and announced plans to buy Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies for $355 million.


Workiva (NYSE: WK) widened losses for the fourth quarter.


LifePoint Health (Nasdaq: LPNT) fell to a loss for the fourth quarter.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 9 to 2 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 2 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 leaped 43 points to 2,747. Bitcoin slipped $24 to $10,136.
