Hazel Goes Cook leads district in academic excellence as 1 of 106 IB schools in state

At Hazel Goes Cook Elementary, students are taught why and how their learning connects to the world around them. As an International Baccalaureate school, students play an active role in deciding what instruction in the classroom looks like, which contributes to a high-quality teaching and learning experience.

The International Baccalaureate Program is a globally-recognized curriculum that is specially designed to help students develop the intellectual, emotional, and social skills necessary to succeed in a globalized world.

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) works together with schools, governments, and global organizations to create rigorous educational programs and assessments that encourage inquiry-based learning, intercultural understanding and active participation.

The IBO works with 2,650 schools in 136 countries to offer three programs of international education to over 560,000 students from around the world: the Diploma Program (grades 9-12), the Middle Years Program (MYP) (for students 11-16 years old), and the Primary Years Program (PYP) (for students 3-12 years old).

The IB program at Cook combines high standards of teaching, student achievement, and pedagogical leadership to provide students with integrated learning that focuses on six transdisciplinary themes. These themes promote inquiry and exploration in order to help students develop a deeper understanding of core concepts, acquire essential life skills, adopt positive attitudes and nourish an internationally-minded perspective by taking action in their own learning.
