Second Wind Dreams Launches World Renowned Virtual Dementia Tour in Italy

CEO P.K. Beville to kickoff launch with keynote address during the Changing the Social Perspective of Dementia Conference

Roswell, GA - March 20, 2018 - Second Wind Dreams® announced today the launch of its the Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT®) in Italy. Founder and CEO, P.K. Beville, and Clinical Manager, Melora Jackson, will be in Bergamo beginning March 20 where they will conduct a comprehensive three-day training to launch the patented, world-renowned VDT program.

Second Wind Dreams is an internationally renowned non-profit organization focused exclusively on enhancing the quality of life for elders, changing society’s perception of aging, and providing educational tools for dementia care.

Second Wind Dreams’ Virtual Dementia Tour, which has been experienced by millions in 20 countries, is an innovative and scientifically proven training used to build a personal understanding of dementia. During the experiential path of the VDT, created by Beville, qualified instructors guide participants as they try to perform common daily tasks while equipped with patented devices that alter their senses. The VDT allows caregivers to experience firsthand the physical and cognitive challenges facing those with dementia by “walking in their shoes.” This experience results in greater empathy and better person-centered care.

Following the VDT training, Beville will keynote at the Changing the Social Perspective of Dementia Conference, taking place March 24 at The University of Bergamo. During her presentation, Beville will address the importance and impact of the VDT and formally launch its availability in Italy.

“Dementia affects so much more than any one individual,” said Beville. “In addition to the debilitating symptoms caused by the disease, it creates an enormous strain on families, communities and health care systems. By simulating the symptoms of dementia, we are able to help caregivers around the world better identify and assist people living with dementia.”

According to The Italian Dementia National Plan, 2015, there are over 1 million individuals affected by dementia and more than 3 million Italians directly or indirectly providing care at a cost of 10-12 billion Euros per year.
