Connecticut Chevrolet Dealer Helps Local Charity Purchase Electric Car

The Karl Chevrolet Company, based in New Canaan, CT, has announced that they were approached by STAR Inc., Lighting the Way, a local nonprofit organization that helps those with developmental disabilities. The nonprofit had received a grant to increase its fleet by 10 vehicles, one of which would be an electric vehicle. STAR chose the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV from the Karl Chevrolet Company, after realizing that the electric car would not only reduce costs but also help the environment.

Leo Karl III, president of The Karl Chevrolet Company, says: "Electric cars are the future, and we're happy to help a local organization to lower their costs using new technology. We believe in helping people, plain and simple."

The nonprofit was incredibly grateful for the help received from the Connecticut Chevrolet dealer. Karl Chevrolet drove over to Norwalk three different models that charity representatives could test drive in order to find the one most suitable, and the Chevrolet Bolt EV was the clear winner. It joins the 55 other vehicles that already form part of the STAR fleet and will help those with developmental disabilities visit libraries, make medical appointments, take part in activities, and go to work. The addition of smaller cars to the fleet will enable the nonprofit to create more customized individual programs for service users.

The Karl Chevrolet Company often supports local charities and nonprofit by offering them special deals and even by making contributions towards the cost of the vehicle itself. Additionally, they have a strong commitment to sustainability, campaigning to have more charging points for electric vehicles across the area. They have also been pleased to see an increase in the number of electric vehicles on the roads in the area.

Karl Chevrolet itself has extensive solar panels installed, and some 30% of its own vehicles' energy consumption is provided by solar energy. More details about the dealership, their commitment to going green, and their support for local charities is available on their website at karlchevy.com.
