Indiegogo Crowdfund Campaign to Combat Mal-Illumination

SOLshine Photo-Nutrition™ is a new therapeutic light bulb designed to address health problems from a completely different angle: by reducing the risk of mal-illumination.

Mal-illumination is a contemporary syndrome that impacts obesity, depression, fatigue, and many other serious health conditions. It is caused by a lack of exposure to energizing, full-spectrum daylight that our genes are programmed to respond to. It’s especially a problem because we replace the natural light with artificial, limited-spectrum indoor light, especially blue light at night.

“The studies keep piling up about conventional LED lights as well as computer, phone, and TV screens, all of which are blue light sources,” said Ken Ceder, co-founder of Science of Light. “Some blue light – which we get from the sun – is necessary to our health. But modern exposure that excludes the rest of the natural, color spectrum has eye doctors and many health experts concerned for our future.”

Light regulates brain chemistry, metabolism, and vital circadian rhythms that control appetite, energy, mood, sleep, libido, and other body-mind functions. Because of low-quality, artificial lighting, mal-illumination is unwittingly affecting millions of people that are truly in the dark about their health.

SOLshine has been designed to effectively bring sunshine indoors for those who can’t get enough sunlight due to weather, schedules or other life circumstances. It does this by providing a balanced spectrum of both visible and invisible light that’s currently as close as possible to natural sunshine. The invisible light spectra – near infrared (NIR) and a trace amount of UV – are necessary to functions like ATP production (fuel for the cells) and the body’s production of vitamin D.

A side benefit: the full spectrum of light helps all colors to pop, giving the bulb a near-perfect score on the Color Rendering Index (CRI).

Already available as a prototype, the Science of Light is running an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in hopes of raising $50,000US to launch the campaign.

The campaign allows backers to pre-order the SOLshine Photo Nutrition at an early-bird price of $129. Product delivery is estimated in November 2018. More information about the product and other rewards can be seen on their official Indiegogo campaign page: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/enlightened-health-sleep/x/12583724#/

SOLshine was created by a group of non-profit health advocates and full-spectrum light pioneers on a mission to enlighten humanity. The group originally founded Ott Light Systems in 1987 with the approval and support of the father of full-spectrum light, Dr. John Ott.
