Teen Marijuana Use in Fatal Crashes Going Up With Smoke

29% of teen fatal crash drivers, were marijuana positive in 2016, up 49% in five years. This was 58% higher than all drivers at 18%.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 09, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In the same period, teens age 16-19 who were DUI decreased 43%, showing a preference of marijuana over alcohol not yet seen in all fatal crash drivers. Further, teen marijuana drivers both Mj & DUI, was less at 16% in 2016 compared to 34% for all drivers.

Not testing of teen fatal crash drivers for drugs was shockingly high at 68% in 2016, up 15% from 2011. Over 2,000 teen drivers were not tested for drugs in 2016. Not testing hides the true extent of marijuana in fatal crashes from the public & promotes legislation and use.
