Schneider Electric reinforces its commitment to safe and smart buildings with its comprehensive digitized approach to fire prevention at PACC 2018

• Showcases its integrated solutions backed by technology, to address the rise in fire related accidents resulting from electrical systems

Participating in ‘PACC 2018’, one of the largest annual event organised by Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI), Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, reiterated its commitment towards creating safe and sustainable buildings through its solutions integrated on its holistic digital platform. This solution stack which detects, prevents, protects from, and mitigates chances of fire accidents include, Prisma iPM, Fire Expert and Security Expert. These were showcased during PACC 2018. With the development in infrastructure and the rise in residential and commercial buildings across the country, Schneider Electric deliberated on the need for preventive approach to fire accidents to make cities safe, secure and livable.

Nearly 70 per cent of the building that will be there in 2030 is yet to be built in India. Hence, deployment of measures to prevent fire is of utmost importance in the country today. Over the last few years India has recorded some of the worst fire accidents as compared to the rest of the world. Clearly indicating, that our country needs to rapidly move towards solutions that can address this calamity in the most effective way. The prime reason of these accidents is that no more than 25% of all installed electrical distribution systems in Low Voltage, do not fully comply with IEC 61439, a standard that helps ensure safety. Today, Industry stakeholders realise that an integrated digitised approach encompassing all systems, especially electrical equipment in buildings, can prevent critical damage to life and property.

Commenting on the vibrant platform of PACC, Pankaj Dharkar, International President said, “With the express requirement of making a ‘Surakshit Bharat’ PACC brings together global experts, from Fire and security Industry, to share best practices to make us and our neighboring countries learn, adopt and share. We have the perfect combination of policy makers, technology providers along with users and influencers. Our endeavor is to make the cities, people and assets safe and better, with every passing year. I am delighted to see the commitment we have generated from all the stakeholders towards this cause.”

Adding to this, Mr. K P Dominic, National President, FSAI said, “With the increase in fire accidents over the years on account of spurious installations, there is a pressing need for deployment of safe and smart products. This congregation aims at bringing awareness on the prevailing challenges in fire and security management and the ways in which we can collectively address them. Standardisation, digitisation and certification of electrical equipment - in the upcoming as well as existing buildings - is one definite way to minimise these hazards. We are happy to associate with Schneider Electric and leverage their expertise to address the issue.”

Besides its latest offering Prisma iPM, the fully type tested electrical panel, Schneider Electric showcased its EcoStruxure architecture that can prevent electrical hazards by detecting and preventing it. EcoStruxure is Schneider Electric’s open, interoperable, IoT-enabled system architecture delivering enhanced value around safety, reliability, efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity for our customers. The architecture enables users to gain visibility and valuable insights from building data to make its environment smarter, more secure and comfortable and up to 30% more efficient. By connecting everything from sensors to services, this comprehensive solution integrates key building systems such as energy, HVAC, lighting, fire safety, security and workplace management to make the most of new opportunities presented by the IoT.

Sharing his views on the growing need for fire safety measures in the country, Mr. Shrinivas Chebbi, President, Buildings Business, Greater India Zone, Schneider Electric, said, “Over the next 10 years, India is going to witness an unprecedented rise in its residential and commercial buildings, shopping malls and airports. A systematic comprehensive approach is the need of the hour to ensure the safety, security and sustainability of these spaces. Technology is an effective way to address this, especially new age technologies such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive computing are some of the tools to mitigate fire related disasters. At Schneider Electric, we believe ddigitisation of infrastructure management is what we need to build resiliency, protect our people, assets, community and our country while ensuring business continuity. “

He further added, “It is our privilege to be associated with Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI), and showcase our range of products and solutions to detect and prevent fire hazards. Together with FSAI, we want to encourage the adoption of standard and type tested electrical assemblies, cloud based fire detection products integrated on a digital platform, to facilitate anytime anywhere use, and to ensure robustness and safety of buildings and installations right from the start.”

With the fast-paced infrastructure development happening in the region, Jaipur is set to synchronise its historic magnificence with modernity. These include upcoming metros, smart roads and other smart city indices that are being worked upon, and hence, the region needs smart digital products. Jaipur is one of the critical markets with a wide range of opportunities for industries today.
