Pittsburgh, PA, USA – Plumbers usually aren’t associated with much outside an occasional house call, but a local plumbing company in Pittsburgh is looking to change that.
Mike Holinda and Visca Como, owners of Taggart Plumbing in Pittsburgh, are raising support for the victims of Hurricane Florence, and the historic flooding in the Carolinas.

“We’ve all seen the images on the news and on Facebook, it’s truly unbelievable how much damage this storm has created”, Como said. “I couldn’t possibly just sit back and watch so many people struggle, we had to do something.”
According to current forecasts, the devastating storm is still expected to dump up to 18 trillion gallons of water on the Carolinas. More than 1 million people are currently without power, and economic damage is estimated to fall between $10 and $60 billion.
Because of those challenges, Taggart Plumbing wants to help. For the next week, the company is raising money in it’s “$7,000 in 7 Days” campaign. The company is raising support for the Hurricane Florence Recovery Fund, which is managed by the United Way.
“With this sorts of damage, the costs to homes and businesses will be astronomical. We can’t do everything, but we can all do some thing. We’re raising money that will go directly for relief efforts, and we’re encouraging our customers and fellow Pittsburghers to contribute what they can. Even a small contribution can make a tremendous impact”, Como said. “We want to raise $7,000 in the next week, and we want to make sure that money goes to help people the most direct way possible.”
