Local motorsports museum presents Mario Andretti: Racing Royalty, opening March 23
WILSONVILLE, Ore. - March 14, 2019 - PRLog -- World of Speed, a Wilsonville, Ore.-based nonprofit motorsports museum, is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit honoring Mario Andretti, the most successful American race car driver of all time. This feature exhibit celebrates the breadth of a career spanning five decades, showing historic cars from the first race car (a '49 Hudson he and his brother Aldo built themselves) to the rare 1967 Ford GT40 Mk IV Sebring winner – World of Speed celebrates it all. Andretti conquered every style of racing he tried, going head-to-head with the best drivers the world had to offer and coming out victorious.

"Mario Andretti isn't just a race legend, he is a household name," said World of Speed Curator Ron Huegli. "How many times have you heard someone say 'Who do you think you are, Mario Andretti?' He is a part of America's lexicon and an ambassador for the world of racing. His list of accomplishments is unrivaled, and he successfully competed in 11 different types of racing."

Along with this 11-car retrospective, the Museum is proud to present original interview film footage of Mario, his twin brother Aldo, son Michael, and grandson Marco. The films also feature racing luminaries commenting on their personal experiences and some untold stories about Mario, what the racing legend means to them, and the sport itself.

Mario Andretti: Racing Royalty opens Saturday, March 23 and will run through November 2. World of Speed is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday and Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. For membership and pricing information, visit worldofspeed.org.
