LOS ANGELES - July 23, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Bugs Taylor's new concept, the No Fuss Comedy Bus, hits the road as the world’s first mobile comedy club, kicking off its six-week Pop-Up tour with two shows under the stars in downtown Los Angeles, Saturday, July 27; doors open at 5 p.m. (1001 N Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012).

Ticket holders will enjoy opening night festivities under the stars, including open bar, beer pong tournaments, live music, food trucks and two unforgettable comedy shows. A variety of comics, including Heather Pasternak, Michael Lenoci, Marlena Rodriguez and surprise guests, will take the pop-up stage to benefit Comic Relief, a 501(c)(3) charity that uses the power of entertainment to help end homelessness and a local mission-aligned charity in each city. NFCB will benefit Make Good, Inc., a local Los Angeles non-profit that provides immediate impact with essential goods and literacy programs to the area's most vulnerable and underserved (www.makegoodinc.org).

The Bus, aka ‘Lucille’, is a 2001 Thomas school bus that has been retro-fitted and engineered to convert into an outdoor comedy venue and will pop-up in 17 cities over six weeks to raise funds for these worthy organizations. Equipped with a collapsible stage, full production gear and outdoor seating, the No Fuss Comedy Bus is designed to accommodate four to six comics in its humble living quarters in between cities. The tour aims to help raise funds for victims of homelessness by spreading laughter nationwide, from small towns and remote locations to big-city landmarks and beyond.

"Albeit challenging, I knew I wanted to convert a bus into a traveling comedy venue no matter what roadblocks popped up along the way. I believe in the power of laughter wholeheartedly — and I've made it my lifelong mission to help heal broken hearts and rebuild broken homes with comic relief, nationwide. So I just kept going. A year later, this little idea has morphed into a massive reality that’s taken on a life of its own. I couldn’t be more proud, and I’m so excited to hit the road and spread the joy one city at a time," says Bugs Taylor.

ABOUT THE NO FUSS COMEDY BUS

The Bus, aka ‘Lucille’, is a 2001 Thomas bus that has been retrofitted into a pop-up, cross country comedy venue called No Fuss Comedy Bus. Bugs Taylor bought the bus in June 2018 after embarking on a two-week open mic tour from Dallas to Madison. She was inspired by life on the road and the eccentric comedians she met along the way. Shortly after, she went on a camping trip with Space X engineers where she saw her first retrofitted 'skoolie'. Thus, the idea for No Fuss Comedy Bus was born. With the help of Charlie Kern, founder of Yellow Chrome Corp, Bugs found the perfect bus for this grand endeavor. She flew to Denver to meet the bus in person, and it was love at first sight. After a thorough inspection, Bugs put a down payment on the bus and became the proud owner of a 34-foot bus, which she promptly named Lucille, after the queen of comedy Lucille Ball. PJ Baio, a fellow comedian and good friend of Bugs, flew to Denver to drive the bus back to L.A. Since her arrival, Lucille has gone through major changes. Bunk beds have been installed in the back, a green room with a kitchenette has been designed in the front, and a collapsible stage has been built outside, along the side of the bus. Every step of the process has brought its own challenges: removing the seats and floors, driving it from Denver to L.A. in the dead of winter, installing a sub-floor, finding a carpenter, securing solar panels, building a stage, booking comedians, etc. It has been a whirlwind, and after a year in the making, Lucille is finally ready to make her big debut.

ABOUT BUGS TAYLOR

From: Stargirl (Writer), NCIS: NOLA (Writer), Burbank Comedy Festival, The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and Laugh Factory. Bugs is a writer, comedienne and the proud owner of the No Fuss Comedy Bus. She's also a co-emcee for the reputable "Oh Yes! It's Ladies' Mic" at Flappers. Bugs believes the trick to doing stand-up is making the audience laugh. Bugs got her start at the ripe age of six, tap dancing (on toes) and singing (out of tune) in her mother’s kitchen while doing her rendition of “I’ve got fire in my belly!” She had the potential to be normal, and the opportunity to play it safe, but the moment she laid eyes on Lucille Ball, she knew she had a choice to make: either go to Hollywood or … go to Hollywood. After studying Radio-TV-Film at the University of Texas at Austin, Taylor moved to L.A. to be a writer. She took any job she could get from a director's assistant on an indie feature to a camera tech assistant on X-Factor. Bouncing from gig to gig, she landed at CBS, where she worked as a post-production assistant on CSI: NY and NCIS, eventually breaking into the writers' room (cue confetti) on NCIS: New Orleans. She currently works as an Executive Story Editor on DC Comics’ new show Stargirl. To keep things fresh, she does stand-up on the side (despite her crippling stage fright). In the summer of 2017, she went on a two-week, self-inflicted, open mic tour to workshop new material. Eleven cities and 13 shows with infantile jokes; it was a suicide mission: bombs in Dallas, crickets in Omaha, and by the time she got to Madison, she killed it. Bugs is from Kansas, so she understands why Dorothy had to blow off Auntie Em, but she figures if you want to cross the rainbow, you have to travel up $***s' creek to do it.
