Insert after fourth paragraph of release dated December 5, 2019: “Republic Airways is a great partner at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “Republic’s strong reliability will be further enhanced with a crew base at SDF and make it easier for their partnering airlines to continue to improve their services. Airline adds hub in Louisville to support additional flying

Republic Airways returns to Louisville with a pilot and flight attendant base this week after the airline announced earlier this year that it will grow its fleet by 16 percent with 30 additional aircraft that it will operate for Delta Air Lines.

“It’s a big day for Republic. Any time we are able to talk about growth for our airline, it’s an exciting conversation,” said Paul Kinstedt, Republic Airways senior vice president and chief operating officer. “Louisville has been an integral part of our company for nearly 15 years. Our crewmembers are very happy to be back there with our maintenance staff who stayed in Louisville after we transitioned to a single fleet type in 2016.”

Louisville has been a maintenance base for Republic since 2006 when the airline began operating the Embraer 145 out of SDF. It served as a crew base for 10 years until the airline streamlined its fleet to operate the Embraer 170/175.

Now, as Republic’s fleet grows to more than 200 aircraft, it reopens its crew base in Louisville to support the additional daily flights. The base will employ 125 crew members in addition to its current maintenance staff of more than 75 associates.

“Republic Airways is a great partner at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “Republic’s strong reliability will be further enhanced with a crew base at SDF and make it easier for their partnering airlines to continue to improve their services. The addition of a new pilot and flight attendant base highlights the airline’s growth, but also showcases the strength of the Louisville market. We are pleased to officially welcome Republic’s crew to their newest home base.”

Republic, headquartered in Indianapolis, has 11 additional bases across the Midwest and East Coast and operates approximately 1,000 daily flights throughout the US, Canada, Caribbean and Central America for its mainline partners.
