Advice to World Leaders from Citizens of Lebanon Offered By Award Winning Author Frances Fuller

Fuller is the author of 'In Borrowed Houses: a memoir of love and faith amidst war in Lebanon. The book is both an award-winning spiritual memoir and an up-close, inside view of a Middle East country engulfed in civil war.

WILMINGTON, NC, August 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The author of 'In Borrowed Houses' calls on world leaders to give "not a cent" to the government of Lebanon while rushing aid to the suffering population.

Anticipating a meeting of world leaders to plan aid to Lebanon, Fuller conducted her own survey of trusted Lebanese in various walks of life, asking for one sentence of advice to world leaders. She received over and over this message: "not a penny to the government." All responders requested that help be distributed by non-government organizations.

Some stress that now is the time to establish a new political system for Lebanon, preserving her neutrality in the international community.

According to Fuller, "the explosions of August 4 that wiped out a huge portion of the beautiful city of Beirut, took with it the last shred of confidence in a government that does not function and refuses to resign."

Within two days of the disaster a petition was being distributed requesting that the United Nations investigate the cause and assign responsibility, assure fair distribution of aid to the victims and help Lebanon acquire a professional government that the people could support.

"This petition is a direct answer," Fuller says, "to an announcement from the government that they would conduct their own investigation, completing it in only five days. The petition also suggests that an organization that may be implicated in the events is deemed to exert significant influence over government actions."

In a recent blog post found on her website, http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com, Frances conducted her own survey of people she knows in Lebanon and asked, "If you could send one sentence of advice to this group, what would you say?" The answers were stunning:

"Don't send money or any sort of aids to the government, because they will take them and leave us to die. Send teams to distribute them personally."

"I would like to advise the group of leaders not to send anything to the government, but help directly the families, the churches, the affected people."
