BTS Asset Management Donates Surplus Computers to Salvation Army Massachusetts Division to Support At-Home Learning

Chromebooks served an urgent need throughout the Covid-19 pandemic

LEXINGTON, MA, August 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- BTS Asset Management donated surplus Chromebook computers this month to The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division in support of at-home learning by youth in need. The Chromebooks served as a short-term solution for BTS staff as employees transitioned to working from home earlier this year.

BTS is a longtime supporter of The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division, including through the BTS Asset Management Youth and Families at Risk Initiative, which began in 2013 and has led to more than $3,000,000 of donations through a combination of direct and matched giving.

The Chromebooks represent BTS' fourth donation of computer equipment to The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division in the past two years. Prior donations of surplus machines were made in support of The Salvation Army's "Bridging the Gap," a program that serves at-risk and high-risk youth aged 12-18. In February, Matthew Pasts, BTS Asset Management CEO, presented a set of workstations at The Salvation Army's Bridging the Gap graduation ceremony in Lowell.

"Because The Salvation Army recognizes that Bridging the Gap youth are at high-risk, our dedicated staff have continued to work with youth throughout the pandemic," said Anthony Falvo, Statewide Director, The Salvation Army's Bridging the Gap program. "Through BTS' generous donation, we've been able to stay in touch with the youth we serve during these challenging times."

Ian Allison, Director of IT Security at BTS, represented the firm at two Bridging the Gap graduation ceremonies last year, when BTS made equipment donations in Haverhill and Lawrence. He said, "I was blown away by the good work being done for these youth and the appreciation for it. In Lawrence, a representative of the Lawrence Police Department expressed thanks and noted that most people don't realize that many of these youth don't have access to technology. That hit home, and I've been proud to be a small part of making a difference."
