By: Get News
Powernet’s Initiatives To Support Women In The IT Industry Powernet is a leading, Australian based technology solution provider that’s purpose is to support organisations in achieving their goals. Through strategic technology choices, making businesses more productive and cyber secure. Powernet believes in equal opportunity for it’s employees, clients and partners, and actively seeks initiatives that support women in the Information Technology industry.

Powernet is proud to announce its latest initiative in creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for women.

We know that returning to work can be a tough time for new mums. Finding a private and comfortable place to express and safely store milk can be daunting. We are committed to supporting women in their return to work, when they’re ready and combining breastfeeding with work, ensuring they have the best opportunity to do so.

We have created a breastfeeding-friendly environment at our offices, including creating a dedicated, private, expressing room equipped with comfortable furniture, cleaning equipment, a small fridge, and a lockable door. This is in conjunction with our new Breastfeeding Policy that allows employees to take expressing breaks when required. In addition, we are excited to announce that we have just become a certified Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace through the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA).

The ABA is Australia’s leading source of breastfeeding information, education, and support for over 50 years. It has many great resources including a free phone line (1800 mum 2 mum) that is available 24/7 for parents to call and speak to lactation consultants for support and advice.

At Powernet, our values are at the absolute core of what we do, and Family is one of them, that is why going through the ABA accreditation process, to become a breastfeeding-friendly workplace was an easy decision for us. Offering an environment that supports our Powernet family and helps them support their families aligns perfectly with what we are all about.

We are conscious of every employee’s needs and aim to provide a welcoming and supportive environment through initiatives such as these. We are striving to create a cultural shift in the workplace through gender diversity and inclusivity, says Bernard Moran, CEO at Powernet.
