Kintsugi Upgrades NFT Collection Features Digital Sculptures Paired With Contemporary Edge

By: Get News

Card79 will be dropping its first NFT, Kintsugi Upgrades #1 on OpenSea Wednesday, December 8th, 2021. The NFT appropriates a collection of ancient artifacts that have been digitally scanned by internationally recognised museums and digitally shatters and reassembles the objects into new configurations. The creative process is inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi however, adapts to modern day functions by introducing new technologies into these digitally remixed artifacts. The NFT creates its own story, celebrating the authenticity and imperfections of artifacts rather than hiding their scars which is at the core of the art of Kintsugi. By repurposing old objects for new functions, the studio is able to give them new life while also creating something truly bespoke.

The NFT upgrades the timeline between very old and very new by using new technology on ancient artifacts. The introduction of digital explores the concept of what is “broken and the art to being broken.” By applying modern technology to ancient artifacts with 3D scanning and printing missing or broken pieces, the art influences new functionality.

Kintsugi Upgrades is an NFT series that will be released one at a time and will be sold on the OpenSea site at a fixed price with plans for auctions in the future.
