About Christopher McGuire

Mr. McGuire's professional career has been aided by an extensive educational background that includes a bachelor's degree in management from Bellevue University and a master's degree in executive leadership from Liberty University. In addition to these academic achievements, he has earned several certifications that have strengthened his expertise in leadership and management, such as a certification in executive leadership and management from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, an economic development course from the Texas Economic Development Council and numerous emergency management certifications.

Mr. McGuire's dedication to excellence in his field is also highlighted by his active involvement in industry-related organizations. His involvement includes serving as president of Chapter 252 of the Federal Managers Association and his affiliation with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the American Association of Municipal Executives and the Texas City Management Association. He was previously a board member for the federal and military section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Professional Career

From 2021 to 2025, Mr. McGuire served as the city administrator and executive director of economic development for the city of Clyde, Texas. With a career committed to public service and economic development, he was instrumental in developing long- and short-range plans with input from various stakeholders, including the city council, community organizations, private citizens, department heads and officials from other governmental entities.

Mr. McGuire's responsibilities in this role included consulting with and directing department heads to solve administrative problems, ensuring compliance with federal, state and city laws, and making recommendations to address non-compliance issues. In addition to these responsibilities, he developed and implemented new ordinances to enhance existing regulations and advised the city council on financial matters.

Before working in city management, Mr. McGuire had a commendable 35-year tenure with the U.S. Army, where he held various leadership roles that developed his skills in strategic planning, emergency management and organizational leadership. Before retiring from the military, he was the deputy commander of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command: Area Support Group in the Balkans.

Passions Outside of His Career

Mr. McGuire is additionally committed to civic engagement and is involved with organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Recognized for his exemplary service, he received numerous awards, which include three Army Achievement Medals for Civilian Service, three Commanders Awards for Civilian Service, two Meritorious Civilian Service Medals, Superior Civilian Service Medal, Armed Forces Civilian Service Medal and Armed Forces Humanitarian Assistance Medal

Outside of his career, Mr. McGuire enjoys playing golf and reading and is a devoted husband. He attributes his success to the ongoing support of individuals who recognized his potential and motivated him to strive for excellence. Looking to the future, he hopes to extend his influence to larger communities. He is considering venturing into online teaching at the university level to share his expertise with aspiring leaders.
