Netsmart and CAMS-care Announce Collaboration to Integrate CAMS Framework® within the CareFabric® Platform

Netsmart, a healthcare technology partner serving community-based providers, today announced a strategic collaboration with CAMS-care to integrate the CAMS Framework® and the Suicide Status Form within the CareFabric platform. Through this collaboration, Netsmart will be the first healthcare technology provider to integrate the CAMS assessment tools within electronic health record (EHR) workflows to better support intervention and improve clinical outcomes.

CAMS, the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality, is an evidence-based clinical intervention backed by 30 years of extensive research to assess, treat and manage suicidal patients in a wide range of clinical settings. The CAMS Framework is guided by the Suicide Status Form (SSF), a multipurpose, clinical tool that functions as a roadmap for assessments, treatment planning, and tracking of ongoing risk and outcomes.

“Netsmart is an established, industry-leading technology provider for mental health and human services organizations,” said Dr. David Jobes, Creator of CAMS and Founder of CAMS-care. “We are honored to work alongside them as we bring digital transformation to the CAMS Framework. We look forward to this partnership and believe integrating the CAMS framework within the EHR will expand provider access to evidence-based treatment and together we’ll be able to enable providers to save more lives.”

Through this collaboration, the CAMS Framework will be integrated as part of the clinical workflow within the myAvatar electronic health record (EHR) that has been developed to meet the unique requirements for human services providers, including addiction treatment, behavioral health and physical health. A variety of Netsmart clients have previously leveraged the CAMS Framework and through this collaboration, their providers and staff will now benefit from having access to a proven, evidence-based treatment embedded in their daily workflow.

“We are committed to serving and supporting the critical needs of behavioral health providers as they adopt evidence-based treatment tools designed to prevent suicide. We firmly believe that innovative technology can help providers be proactive,” said David Strocchia, SVP & Managing Director of Human Services, Netsmart. “Comprehensive data and predictive analytics can paint an enhanced view for clinicians and staff. Using data to improve care and outcomes while strengthening our communities for the better is very aligned with the strategic vision of Netsmart.”

Netsmart client UEMR-VT, a non-profit Vermont collaborative comprised of Lamoille County Mental Health Services, United Counseling Service of Bennington County, Washington County Mental Health Services and Northwestern Counseling & Support Services, has been leading the charge alongside the Netsmart team for this innovative integration. Additionally, Netsmart clients from across the nation will soon bring the integration capabilities to both the providers and individuals they serve.

“We are excited for this new milestone in our journey with our partners at Netsmart and CAMS, as we collectively work together to lead the way in technology integration for vital behavioral health services,” said Michael Hartman, Lamoille County Mental Health CEO who is part of Vermont’s four agency shared project known as the Unified Electronic Medical Record or UEMR-VT. “By equipping our agencies with data-driven, integrated tools, our clinicians and staff will be able to better identify self-harm behaviors and suicide risk of the individuals in our care. Our suicide prevention initiatives have been long underway, and we believe this technology integration and access to more timely data will support our agencies’ long-term goal to develop ongoing communities of practice to provide opportunities for case consultation and support for providers and to ultimately support the quality of mental health care in Vermont.”
