Formed in 1981, the Health & Fitness Association provides advocacy, education, and research for a global community of industry professionals committed to building their businesses and advancing the health and well-being of their communities. The trade association encompasses multiple sectors of the fitness industry, including operators of health clubs, fitness studios, and equipment and service providers. It announced five new board members at its annual meeting on March 8 in Los Angeles, CA.

“I am honored to be part of the legacy of leaders, entrepreneurs and operators in the health and fitness industry who have served on the board of the Health & Fitness Association,” said Idgar. “It’s evident that our industry holds significant sway in advocating for health and fitness in our communities, and I’m eager to serve alongside esteemed leaders in our field to influence, direct and further amplify this impact.”

Idgar’s dedication to health and fitness extends over two decades, with experience at numerous national fitness brands before joining the EoS Fitness team in 2015. He began his career in 2003 as a general manager at Gold’s Gym in Hollywood, CA, honing his management style, sales skills and mentorship approach. Idgar went on to join the Equinox Sports Club, where he played an instrumental role in the company’s growth, including the acquisition of Equinox Sports Club West in Manhattan.

In addition to his fitness industry background, Idgar also brings valuable firsthand entrepreneurship experience to the Health & Fitness Association board of directors. He founded and operated Fit Food LLC, a health-minded catering business serving high-profile television shows and movie studios such as American Idol, Glee, So You Think You Can Dance and Warner Bros. Studios.

Idgar joined the EoS Fitness team as a Regional Vice President and quickly worked his way up to his current role as COO, displaying a strong commitment to mentoring and coaching managers while further developing and elevating EoS offerings. His ongoing contributions to EoS include driving explosive growth in both the number of locations and the programming and facilities the brand is known for. Starting with just 16 locations in three states, Idgar has overseen EoS expansion during his tenure to more than 125 gyms open or on the way across six states.

“Richard is among a stellar group of new board members with a genuine passion for the fitness industry,” said Health & Fitness Association President & CEO Liz Clark. “I look forward to hearing Richard’s fresh insights and tapping into his experience in the fitness industry as well as his entrepreneurial expertise as we continue the evolution of our association.”
