General Assembly Launches Cybersecurity & IT Training Programs in Partnership with CompTIA to Close Enterprise Cybersecurity Skills Gap

Upskilling and reskilling programs address shortage of nearly four million cybersecurity professionals globally

General Assembly, a leading provider of tech talent and training solutions, today announced new cybersecurity and IT training programs designed to help enterprises fill in-demand IT roles and close the cybersecurity skills gap. General Assembly will partner with CompTIA to provide participants with the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications.

“As demand continues to soar for cybersecurity and IT roles, companies must look beyond traditional talent to close these critical skills gaps,” said Daniele Grassi, CEO of General Assembly. “Our longstanding expertise in tech talent makes General Assembly the ideal partner for enterprises looking to tap nontraditional talent sources. Upskilling and reskilling nontechnical and entry-level tech employees for modern IT roles will be critical to future business security and resilience.”

Globally, businesses face a skills shortage of nearly four million cybersecurity professionals, a deficit set to grow as global data breach costs reached an all-time high in 2024. Businesses can close this gap and reduce cybersecurity and IT hiring costs by tapping sources of nontraditional entry-level talent, and unlocking the potential of existing employees through upskilling and reskilling.

To that end, General Assembly debuted two new offerings:

  • An Information Technology (IT) Bootcamp designed for individuals from nontechnical backgrounds or those with outdated skillsets, providing a comprehensive foundation in IT concepts, tools and certifications. Participants will also have the opportunity to achieve two foundational certifications from CompTIA, A+ and Network+, by the end of the program. Participants also receive hands-on training, complete practical projects, and learn from instructors in the field–enabling them to transition seamlessly into modern IT roles like IT support specialist, junior systems administrator and network engineer upon completion.
  • Additional training paths will help upskill entry-level IT employees into cybersecurity roles, like security engineer, systems administrator and security administrator. Empowering employees who are already familiar with a company’s IT environment with new cybersecurity skills can strengthen security measures and reduce vulnerabilities, while fostering a culture of learning and innovation.

General Assembly also recently launched a two-day IT & Cybersecurity Fundamentals Workshop designed for anyone who wants to explore the IT and cybersecurity fields and start building hands-on IT and cybersecurity skills as they consider future career paths.

Students can apply for the initial cohorts of the IT Bootcamp here. Additional training paths are also now available for enterprises looking to upskill employees, and will be open to all learners in the coming months.

“Many people have the ability to thrive in tech job roles, but too often a lack of opportunity and support leaves them on the sidelines,” said Donna Koppensteiner, chief revenue officer, CompTIA. “General Assembly’s new programs have the potential to be game changers, providing individuals with training and the opportunity to earn certifications that start them on the path to career success in the tech workforce.”
