AdvancedMD surveyed medical group employees to determine which healthcare technology solutions have the biggest impact on patient outcomes
AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today released findings from its survey of medical group employees to determine which healthcare technology solutions have the biggest impact on patient outcomes. According to the survey findings, the top three most implemented healthcare technology platforms include EHR, practice management, and patient portals.
While fewer respondents have implemented telehealth solutions than EHR, practice management or patient engagement solutions, telehealth platforms are the second most popular technology cited (after EHR) when asked which healthcare technology solutions had the biggest impact on patient outcomes.
“Our survey findings reinforce what we’ve seen unfold within the ambulatory care space over the last five years: Telehealth not only provides flexibility and convenience for patients—it’s a fundamental component of the patient experience that has a significant impact on patient outcomes,” said Amanda Sharp, CEO, AdvancedMD. “It’s clear that providers are favoring care delivery models to meet rising patient expectations. As patient demands evolve and become more consumer-driven, the practice leaders who invest in integrated technology solutions will be better positioned to thrive with tools that can deliver personalized, accessible care to patients no matter who they are or where they live.”
The AdvancedMD survey revealed that nearly 70% of survey respondents said that they use information from their EHR to improve personalized care plans.
“The fact that an overwhelming majority of the healthcare professionals we surveyed are using their EHR to develop personalized, just-in-time treatments demonstrates just how effective these solutions are,” said Sharp.
AdvancedMD also discovered that more practices are using data and analytics to improve care plans versus simply relying on patient data, with 60% of survey respondents reporting that they use patient-care data and analytics to identify trends that can improve treatment plans.
More key findings from the AdvancedMD survey:
- Nearly 70% of respondents agreed that their practice’s healthcare stack has a positive impact on patient outcomes.
- When asked what area of care sees the biggest benefit from healthcare technology solutions, 53% of respondents said mental healthcare—more than any other area of care, including preventative care, pain management, or chronic conditions.
- Nearly 70% of respondents report that patient expectations have increased during the past year—29% say patient expectations have increased “significantly.”
- 66% of respondents said that most patients still schedule their appointments by phone.
- 85% of the survey respondents said that they believe data integration capabilities are essential to delivering personalized care.
“The fact that so many respondents understand the critical connection between data integration and patient care underscores one of our core pillars as a healthcare technology provider—seamless integration,” said Sharp. “We have focused our expertise on building a unified practice management, EHR, and patient engagement solution because we know that creating a frictionless experience to streamline workflows and drive productivity enhances the patient experience, which can lead to improved patient outcomes.”
