Margaret C. Andrews and The Academic Leadership Group to Host Live January Webinar Exploring Why Great Leadership Starts With Self-Understanding

“How Can You Manage Yourself to Lead Others?” explores why great leadership begins with self understanding

In an era of rapid change and increasing complexity in higher education, effective leadership has never been more critical. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Academic Leadership Group will host a one-hour live webinar featuring acclaimed leadership expert, author, and educator Margaret C. Andrews.

Drawing from more than three decades of experience at the highest levels of business and academia, Andrews will share powerful insights on why self-understanding is the foundation of authentic, resilient, and impactful leadership. She will be interviewed by Academic Leadership Group President and Founder, Dr Jennifer Strine, and webinar guests will also have the opportunity to post questions.

During the webinar, participants will explore:

  • How to harness the power of self-understanding to become a more authentic and successful leader
  • Why leadership growth is not linear, and how embracing the “S-curve” can help leaders slow down to speed up
  • What holds many academic leaders back—and practical strategies to move forward with confidence and resilience

Margaret C. Andrews is a speaker, educator, and author of Manage Yourself to Lead Others: Why Great Leadership Begins with Self-Understanding. She has over 30 years of experience at the highest echelons of business and higher education, and ran the MBA program at the MIT Sloan School of Management before becoming Associate Dean for Management Programs at Harvard University. Her course, Managing Yourself and Leading Others, is among the most popular classes and executive programs at Harvard and the foundation for much of her speaking and writing. She is also the founder of The MYLO Center, a leadership education and professional development firm.

Known for combining the best of business and academia to help executives and high-achieving professionals transform their leadership practice, Andrews helps executives and high-achieving professionals transform how they lead—creating impact that extends far beyond their organizations.
