Fortem Technologies Welcomes JIATF-401’s Selection of DroneHunter as First Replicator 2 Purchase

Landmark acquisition by U.S. Department of War task force affirms Fortem’s interceptor as a proven, deployable counter-drone solution and establishes a pathway for scaled deployment

Fortem Technologies, the global leader in airspace security and counter-drone solutions, today welcomed the U.S. Department of War’s announcement that Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401) has selected the company’s DroneHunter® interceptor as the first purchase under Replicator 2, a fast-track effort designed to move deployable counter-drone systems into operational use quickly.

“This selection is a powerful vote of confidence in DroneHunter’s operational readiness,” said CEO Jon Gruen. “Being chosen for the first Replicator 2 purchase reinforces that DroneHunter is not a concept, pilot, or experiment – it’s a deployable, AI-driven interceptor that’s already protecting critical assets and teams around the world in environments where safety, precision, and restraint matter most.”

Replicator 2 is a fast-track effort designed to accelerate the Department of War’s ability to field counter-drone capabilities by prioritizing systems that are ready for real-world deployment. JIATF-401 leads the Department’s efforts to counter the growing threat posed by small, low-cost drones to military installations, critical infrastructure, and personnel.

Gruen said that by moving first with DroneHunter, JIATF-401 has created a pathway for broader adoption of Fortem’s interceptor across additional sites and missions as counter-drone requirements continue to expand.

“Replicator 2 is explicitly designed to move from an initial operational decision to broader deployment without restarting the acquisition process,” Gruen said. “Being selected first establishes a clear pathway for scaling proven capabilities as needs evolve.”

DroneHunter is a reusable interceptor that integrates onboard autonomy and advanced radar with Fortem’s command-and-control technologies to safely intercept small drones, particularly in settings where minimizing collateral damage is paramount. Once it spots a potential threat, DroneHunter can capture it with a tethered net instead of destroying it in midair, allowing it to be safely towed to a designated location for forensic analysis.
