Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW) (Nasdaq: AAWW), a leading provider of global air cargo services, today announced that Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas P. Kane has joined the Company as Vice President of Defense and Government Programs.
In this new position, Mr. Kane will be responsible for developing innovative services and solutions to meet the needs of U.S. government agencies, as well as supporting AAWW’s relationships with international government agencies and organizations. His appointment is effective October 1.

Mr. Kane comes to AAWW from Headquarters, Air Mobility Command (AMC) at Scott AFB. Since 2005, he has served as Director, Strategic Plans, Requirements and Programs, directing a staff of 275 military and civilians in developing and marketing the Air Mobility Command Strategic Roadmap.
Previously, Mr. Kane was based in Seoul as Deputy Chief of Staff of the UN Command and U.S. Forces Korea, and a senior member to the UN Military Armistice Commission. In this role, he worked with 15 member nations and their ambassadors, apprising them of all issues regarding the military armistice agreement on the Korean peninsula.
As Deputy Director of the NATO Reaction Force Air Staff in Germany from 2001 to 2003, Mr. Kane directed a 17-nation NATO HQ responsible for material, logistical, and financial support to deployed nations involved in peace-keeping and humanitarian relief efforts, and which provided support to NATO missions in the Balkans and Afghanistan.

Tom makes an outstanding addition to our senior team as we further develop our well-established defense and government business capabilities.”
A command pilot, Mr. Kane has logged nearly 4,500 flight hours. He earned his B.S. in international relations from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a M.S. in national security management from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., and a M.A. in international relations, University of Southern California. Mr. Kane also completed the Program for Senior Executives in National and International Security Management, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
