Richart Ruddie Donates To Non-Profit Adam’s Place as Monument To Slain Teenager

CHICAGO, IL / ACCESSWIRE / July 26, 2021 / After Chicago police shot and killed Adam Toledo, an unarmed teenager, in the Little Village area of Chicago, now the non-profit Adam's place has dedicated themselves to help other families ensure that their sons have the chance to fulfill their dreams while Adam's was cut short.

Founded in Adam Toledo's honor the aim of preventing this occurring ever again is gaining steam and donors like Richart Ruddie are helping both with donations and by helping to spread awareness so others can contribute to this amazing cause.

The nonprofit organization has been established to help young people who are at-risk in Chicago and other cities in the Midwest to help them avoid a similar fate. The group behind the project has announced that it has entered into a contract to purchase farmland only a few hours drive from the city near the town of Potosi, Wisconsin as the location for the project.

Adams Place is intended to be a rural sanctuary for deprived and underserved young people where they will live and undertake farming activities to help them connect to the world in a more positive way. The idea was inspired by a similar program in Newberry, South Carolina called Boy's Farm which provides a retreat for young boys who are troubled or experiencing serious challenges in their lives and offers various programs and support structures to help them grow and overcome their issues in a supportive environment.

Elizabeth Toledo, Adam's mother, has said that she would give anything to have her son returned to her but, given that this is impossible, she wants to provide help to other families so that they can protect their sons from the same fate and to avoid the temptations of an inner-city environment that so often leads to boys being on the streets and in danger.

An attorney for the group establishing Adam's Place has said that boys chosen to stay at the farm will not come from the court system but rather on the recommendation of various charity organizations and non-profit groups that work with young people in Chicago. It is intended that the boys selected will be in a similar age range as Adam and be residents on the farm year-round and stay through their high school, although this would depend on their individual circumstances.

The project is still in its early stages and the group behind it is appealing for donations, support from other Chicago organizations and conducting other fundraising as well as going through the process of meeting the requirements to become an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Adam Toledo, described by his family as a 'loving son' and a 'good boy' who had never had any previous trouble with the police, left his house and met with a group of older boys on March 29, 2021 - the night he was killed.
