The deemed Prince of Rap and former ghost writer debuts as a full-time recording artist.

Transitioning in the music industry isn’t walk in the park especially with accolades like Cobra Monroe, but this Prince is the epitome of rebranding.

Born Deon Johnson in New Orleans, the heart of Louisiana on July 7th. This was the beginning of his journey. On August 23, 2005 Monroe and his family were relocated to Dallas Texas, due to hurricane Katrina. Being his mother’s only son he faced a lot of obstacles in the South Dallas neighborhood. During Monroe’s early teen years he quickly became a known name in the city for his street altercations. His mother feared that if he kept going down the path he was taking he would end up in jail or worse. At age 15 his mother came home with a recording mic and that is when he became Cobra Monroe. His first single, Swag it Out, featuring the hit South Dallas Swag dance got the attention of the city.

In 2012, after getting a loyal following Cobra started to tour the Country performing his hit song. Later that year he started to ghost write for some of the industry's biggest stars, going by the name Whisper. He has written for Atlantic Records, Defjam, and Kobalt artists. He swore to never say who he writes for which is a condition of his services. In 2014, He launched his own label RS Militia Music LLC, and released his first mixtape “Chronicles of a Bandit.” After issuing multiple EPs and collaborative singles, he landed a deal with Kobalt and Awal. Monroe has been nominated as Songwriter of the year 4 times he has won 2 awards. He caught the attention of artists and Legends like, Lil’ Kim, Jacki-o, Lola Monroe, Jazmine Sullivan, Nas, Kirko Bangz, and the list goes on.

In 2015, due to issues with his label and other personal problems he took time out to rebrand and refocus. In 2017 Monroe released his second mixtape ISO and his fans quickly flocked to their proclaimed Prince of Rap. The leading song No No charted #93 on the itunes charts, and just like that he was back in the limelight. In 2018, he released his EP The Prince of Rap, and later welcomed his first child Messiah Johnson, with his long-time girlfriend.Due to his new found love of being a father he decided to step away from music to raise his son.

In 2022, Cobra Monroe’s net worth is about $950,000. His yearly salary is between $120,000-$150,000 and he somehow managed to not spend one royalty check. Monroe is now being managed by The Penmen Club and plans to reunite with singing roots. In July 2022, He will be releasing new music which will tell all about his past experiences.This prince is off to a great start for his highly anticipated comeback, he has created a royal empire, and a loyal fanbase that adores him.

Now ready to take on 2023, The Prince of Rap’s return and debut album “ Atum The Son of Heka'' is set to be released December 7, 2022. He now goes by a new alter ego, “Rari '' which is pictured as him returning to his Egyptian roots. He is a staple for anyone that feels like they need another chance, and the world can't wait to see what comes next from this prince.
